Protests follow fatal Charlotte police shooting

Incidents like the Charlotte protests against the shooting of a black person by a police officer are by no means “rare” in the United States. According to The Guardian, 793 people have been killed by police in 2016, 194 of whom were black. Last year, riots took place in Baltimore, following the death of 25-year-old African-American Freddie Gray, who died of a deadly spinal cord injury after he was arrested for allegedly fleeing from officers. CCTV’s Omar Khan visited some of the African-American neighborhoods in Baltimore and asked residents about their perceptions of the police.
