Public sector workers strike against austerity in Belgium

Public sector trade union workers are going on strike in Belgium, and thousands are expected to take part in street protests against austerity measures. This comes just one week after a massive anti-austerity demonstration in central Brussels, which saw around 50,000 people hitting the streets. The rally was called to protest the social and economic policies of the center-right government, which trade unions say cut deep into the foundations of Belgium’s welfare state.
