Putin awards army for anti-IS operations

Russian President Vladmir Putin has awarded state honors to the country’s armymen who serve in military operations in Syria.
In a ceremony on Thursday, Putin highly praised the army, noting that their actions defend Russia.
The Russian air force has bombed nearly 1,500 targets across Syria and carried out over 430 sorties over the past nine days, according to Russia’s Defence Ministry.
The briefing also mentioned that Russia’s bombers are now flying under the cover of strategic fighter jets.
That follows the downing of a Russian warplane by Turkey last week.
Among the targets struck were some 40 large trucks and cisterns used to transport oil.
They were destroyed near the cities of Aleppo and Raqqa.
