Putin handles giant ‘flying’ axe at MAKS-2015

Russian President Vladimir Putin handled a giant axe that is allegedly able to fly, at the MAKS-2015 Young Engineers Pavilion in Zhukovski on Tuesday.

Putin was accompanied by the King of Jordan, Abdullah II, Abu Dhabi’s Crowned Prince Mohammed Al Nahyan and Iran’s Vice President Sorena Sattari, when he met the youngsters who invented the unusual ‘aircraft.’

Putin and his entourage were greeted warmly by a little boy who presented the guests with t-shirts and aviator watches. The president wished the young inventors good luck, before giving autographs, and then continued his stroll through the exhibition.

The International Aviation and Space Salon, known as MAKS-2015, kicked-off Tuesday at the Zhukovski Airfield. It is one of the largest air shows in the world with over 400,000 people expected to attend the event. The air show showcases Russia’s aircraft manufacturing capabilities and is organised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and Rostec.
