Putin invokes military pride on Navy Day

Sunday was Navy Day in Russia.
It was marked with grand celebrations across the country’ s navy bases, with war ships, submarines, aircrafts, and amphibious vehicles in line for spectacular shows.
Russian President Vladimir Putin appeared in the Kaliningrad region at the dock of a warship in a Baltic Fleet base.
He praised the navy for guaranteeing the country’ s defense and national interests.
On the same day, Putin approved new amendments to Russia’ s maritime doctrine.
It’s a a move seen as the latest response to NATO’ s expansion towards Russia’ s western frontier.
The newly-revised maritime doctrine is described by Putin as a “milestone event for the future of the Navy.”
It’s aimed at boosting the presence of the Russian Navy at the Black Sea.
