Putin salutes ISS crew, first woman in space on Cosmonautics Day

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a video conference from Moscow with the International Space Station (ISS) and the new Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia’s Amur Region on Tuesday, to congratulate the cosmonauts on the 55th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s historic trip into space.

Cosmonautics Day is celebrated on April 12, marking the anniversary since the launch of first manned space flight by Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in 1961.
