Putin to visit China late June

Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit China in late June.

China’s Foreign Ministry says he is expected to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

A spokeswoman with the ministry announced the visit at a daily news briefing.

“During President Putin’s visit to China, President Xi will hold talks with him and they will have an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral ties and issues of common concern. The two leaders will plan the development direction and priority cooperation areas of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination. And they will sign important political documents and witness the signing of a series of documents of pragmatic cooperation.”

The spokesperson said this year marks the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Sino-Russian Good-Neighborly Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation and Putin’s visit is at the invitation of President Xi.
