Raging wind hits east China’s Jiangsu Province

Strong gales have swept across several parts of east China’s Jiangsu Province since Thursday evening, bringing down the mercury levels. The provincial meteorological observatory has issued a yellow gale alert, the third level in a four-tier color-coded tropical cyclone warning system, and forecast strong winds in Lianyungang, Suqian and Yancheng cities among other areas. In the provincial capital of Nanjing, force 8 winds have been registered with gusts shaking windows, impeding progress of pedestrians and breaking off tree branches. Temperatures in Nanjing on Friday registered 21 degrees Celsius –a 10-degree drop from Thursday.
