Union Minister Nitin Gadkari took on Rahul Gandhi on Friday (July 24), threatening to file a criminal defamation suit against the Congress leader if he did not apologise to Sushma Swaraj for calling her a “criminal.” “This is a very insensitive and insulting comment against a foreign minister. He should apologise in person and take back his words,” Gadkari said. Gandhi’s charges of corruption, Gadkari added, had no basis. “She has not violated any law, nor has she misused her office. Gandhi had accused Swaraj of committing a criminal act by helping Lalit Modi, adding that her act “deserved jail”.
