Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today met protesting students of Pune based Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in support of their agitation against the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as its head. Taking on RSS, Rahul said, “The RSS and its wings promote mediocrity and I have seen this everywhere.” “Why is the government disturbed by your protests,” Rahul Gandhi asked the protesting FTTI students. Questioning Gajendra Chauhan without taking his name, Rahul said, “A person who is mediocre has been put on top of people who don’t want to be mediocre.” “If PM Narendra Modi has decided on Gajendra Chuhan, no one can change that in BJP,” the Congress VP added. Meanwhile, BJP staged protest against Rahul Gandhi visit and said that he is playing ‘photo op’ politics. FTII students are on strike against Chouhan’s appointment and several filmmakers have supported them on the issue. Students have continued their strike for almost 40 days, boycotting academic work after failure of their talks with Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi on July 3.
