Rainstorms affect 940,000 in S. China

Rainstorms have left two people missing and more than 940,000 affected in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region over the past week.

Some 52,500 people were evacuated to safe places. 1,657 houses collapsed and 3,700 more were damaged due to the storms.

The heavy rain has caused direct economic losses of 44 million U.S. dollars.

Disaster relief work is under way.
