Rare hailstorm batters southern China, damaging car windows

In Chongzuo, a city located in southern China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a surprise strong hailstorm struck on the evening of April 10. The hailstorm, which saw balls of ice as big as eggs, lasted for more than 20 minutes and caused serious damage across the city. 1705 vehicles and 656 houses were badly damaged, with plenty of crops also battered in the downpour. Work to assess the damage is currently underway.
