RAW:Palestinians in Gaza mark prisoners’ day

Massive rallies filled the streets of Gaza on Sunday to mark International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian Prisoners, amid calls for the freedom of around 7000 Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails.

Protesters holding posters of detainees, flag-waving family members of prisoners urged the international organizations to help free their loved ones. The crowds chanted slogans against the Israeli policies practiced against the detainees, calling for improving their detention conditions.

Marked since 1974, when the first Palestinian prisoner was freed in a prisoner swap, 17 April is a day to commemorate the Palestinians held in Israeli jails.
