RAW: 100,000 march on Red Square to celebrate International Workers’ Day

Around 100,000 people, including members of trade unions and political activists, gathered at Moscow’s Red Square on Sunday, to celebrate International Workers’ Day, commonly known in Russia as Spring and Labour Day.

Marchers were chanting slogans for better salaries and pensions and the improvement of working rights and conditions.

This year the Labour Day celebrations coincided with the Orthodox Christian Easter, Russia’s most important religious holiday.
