A bus burst into flames when it was passing through a busy street in downtown Hangzhou, southeast China’s Zhejiang Province on Wednesday evening.
Nine people were slightly injured.
The driver of the bus stopped the vehicle after hearing a loud “pop” from the back of the bus, and began to evacuate passengers.
But a fire soon broke out, and quickly engulfed the vehicle.
Firefighters were called in at around 7 pm, who extinguished the blaze within 18 minutes. By then the bus was already burned to a “skeleton”.
Initial investigation shows a faulty battery was to blame for the flames.
