Thousands of Crimeans took to the streets on Wednesday, to mark two years since the referendum that saw
the peninsula vote to join the Russian Federation on the status of the Ukraine’s autonomous republic.
Crimea had been part of Russia since the 18th century until it was transferred to Ukraine in 1954.
Crimea was officially incorporated into the Russian Federation on March 21,2014, when the Russian Federation Council adopted the Treaty on Accession of the Republic of Crimea to Russia.(Video courtesy of Ruptly)
