RAW: Flood washes away iron rod bridge in SW China

A bridge supported by iron rods was swept away by raging floodwaters in southwest China’s Chongqing on Thursday.

The 1-meter wide make-shift bridge was built a year ago on the Qingjiang River to facilitate thousands of local residents after a former dilapidated bridge was blown up due to safety concerns.

Construction of a new bridge has been underway and is scheduled to be completed in October this year.
