RAW: In-house gunfight preludes arrest of Mexican drug kingpin Guzman

Mexican marines exchanged fierce gunfire with the henchmen of drug capo Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Loera in the early morning of January 8 in his house in seaside resort Town of Los Mochis in northwestern State of Sinaloa.

In the raid called Black Swan, five suspects died, one marine was wounded and six others detained.

The 58-year-old boss of the Sinaloa Cartel, with one of his assistants, fled the house during the foray through the drainage, stole a car and drove onto the highway nearby, where he was chased and finally got caught.

Guzman was transferred to the maximum security prison of Altiplano in State of Mexico late January 8, waiting for his extradition to the United States.
