Russian President Vladimir Putin visited one of Russia’s most prominent arms manufacturers, the VKO Almaz-Antey factory in central Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod on Tuesday.
The factory, which was opened in 2015, manufactures the S-400, S-500 and 50R6 Vityaz anti-aircraft missile systems as well as the radar complex Nebo-M.
During his visit, Putin was presented with a copy of the key to the Nebo-M, nicknamed the ‘Key of Heaven’, as the word ‘Nebo’ means ‘Heaven’ in Russian.
Russia’s arms exports in 2015 exceeded expectations and totaled $14.5 billion, while the current portfolio of foreign orders stands at over 56 billion, Putin told a meeting of the presidential commission on military-technical cooperation with foreign states.
According to the president, Russia is maintaining a solid second place among global leaders in arms trade.
