RAW: Russia, Syria air-drop humanitarian aid for Deir ez-Zor inhabitants
Airplanes of the Syrian Air Force air dropped several tonnes of humanitarian aid for inhabitants of the besieged eastern city of Deir ez-Zor on Monday, using Russian parachute-platform air-drop systems.
Deir-ez-Zoris, currently surrounded by the so-called Islamic State, (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), is home to some 200,000 people. Supply links to the city have been severed since May 2015.
According to the UN, some 4.5 million people in Syria live in areas to where it is difficult to deliver humanitarian aid.
