RAW: Russia vetoes draft UN resolution on MH17 tribunal

Russia on Wednesday vetoed a draft UN Security Council resolution on the establishment of an international tribunal to investigate the downing of a Malaysian airliner last year.

Of the 15 members of the council, 11 voted in favor, one against and three abstained.

A total of 298 people, 196 of them Dutch, were killed after the commercial passenger plane crashed in the Donetsk area of east Ukraine on July 17, 2014. The Boeing 777-200ER was en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it crashed over Ukraine.
