Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed a Su-24 warplane involved in Syrian operations crashed near the Syrian border with Turkey.
The plane reportedly came down in a mountainous area in the northern countryside of Syria’s Latakia province.
Turkey said its fighter jets shot down the plane for an alleged violation of their airspace, after purportedly warning the pilots 10 times.
Russia said its plane hadn’t violated Turkish airspace and was flying at an altitude of 6,000 meters.
Reports said the two pilots managed to eject, but their fate is still unclear.
