RAW: Russian sappers begin de-mining Palmyra ruins in Syria

Russian sappers from the International Mine Action Centre were deployed on a special assignment to assist the Syrian Army with bombs disposal and mine clearance operations among the ancient ruins of Palmyra on Wednesday, following the liberation of the city from so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) militants.

The robotic complex called Uran-6 was also utilised in excavating areas suspected to contain traps and mines.
