RAW: Russian sub launches missiles against IS for the first time

For the first time since the beginning of the Russian campaign in Syria, Russian naval forces struck so-called Islamic State (IS) targets in Syria from a submarine in the Mediterranean Sea.

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the attacks during a meeting with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Tuesday.

Shoigu confirmed that 3M-54 Kalibr missiles had been launched from the Kilo-class diesel-electric submarine ‘Rostov-on-Don.’
