Recalling the hardships of Red Army soldiers through the grasslands during the Long March

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Long March, the epic military maneuver carried out by the Red Army in the 1930s in their combat with the troops of the then ruling Kuomintang Party. The soldiers participating in the civil war fought, starved, and persisted. It was one of history’s greatest journeys, and on Martyrs’ Day, CCTV takes you back for a look at the hardest part of the Long March: Crossing the grasslands.
