Record rainfall turns streets into rivers in northeast China’s Huludao City

The city of Huludao in northeast China’s Liaoning Province was hit by continuous downpour from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday morning, witnessing up to 361 millimeters of rainfall in less than 24 hours, an all-time record for the city.
The local government relocated nearly 50,000 people over safety concerns, due to the potential danger of landslides and mountain torrents. Over 2,200 traffic officers are maintaining the traffic order across the city. Meanwhile, some 4,000 soldiers are standing by and readying themselves for rescue operations.
