Research ship goes on ‘test drive’ in China’s Guangzhou

Jiageng, a research vessel, was officially tested in the waters off south China’s Guangzhou on Monday, in preparation for its future maiden trip. A team of engineers built the 3,500-ton ship in 2015 to support the country’s research in marine studies, as well as in chemistry and biology, among other scientific fields. The vessel is expected to play a major role in China’s comprehensive ocean expedition research in the future.
