The Rio Games have displayed not only the cultures of Brazil and Latin America, but also some Chinese elements, such as the mosquito net, which is believed to have originated in China nearly 3,000 years ago. Chinese athletes used it as a layer of extra protection against mosquitoes that spread the Zika virus. There were also Peking Opera-designed helmets, worn by China’s gold medal-winning female cyclists during the team sprint event. And perhaps the most special, cupping, a traditional Chinese medical therapy to relax muscles, has been popular among the athletes. CCTV’s reporter Yang Zhao tries it out.
