“We are very proud that the venues and other facilities of the Olympics are getting ready. … Most of the construction of Olympic facilities has been completed. … We will accomplish the Olympics in an innovative way.”

The International Olympic Committee’s coordination commission was present at the opening ceremony, praising the progress but warning the counting down was very tight for the games.

“From here all the beautiful story will go to the world. The stories of athletes are going to achieve their dreams, and the stories of athletes are going to break records and win medals. You will be able to tell the story of Rio, the country, and the how Brazilians took commitment to make this happen.”

The press center consists of 26,000 square meters with a capacity for 25,000 people.
The Municipal Olympic Company is responsible for construction work.
The company claimed last week that the Olympic Park was 98 percent completed.
