The water level of the River Seine in Paris has dropped slightly after hitting a 34-year high on Friday. The river receded by 94 centimeters on Saturday from its highest point overnight of 6.10 meters. The Seine rose throughout the past week, triggering a scramble to save artworks in riverside museums. The famed Louvre and Orsay museums shut their doors as officials raced to move art treasures from their basements. Some metro stations were closed and Parisians were advised to stay away from the river.
