The People’s Bank of China set the Chinese yuan’s midpoint rate at 6.7098 per US dollar on Tuesday morning, 90 basis points lower than on Monday. Economists say the depreciation of the yuan, which has reached its lowest point since 2010, is due to the strengthening US dollar, which was led by the weakening of the British pound.
