Russia to increase Ebola vaccine production

In Russia, Health Minister outlined plans to scale up production of the Ebola vaccines on Friday. The announcement came after President Vladimir Putin said Russia had developed a vaccine to combat the virus.

Russian Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova stressed that while there had been no recorded cases within Russia, they will do everything to prevent its spread across Russia. It is planed to increase production of the vaccine tenfold.

“The crucial issue for us was that the vaccinated blood absolutely neutralized the virus in laboratory conditions within a month or two. This is the major result of our work.”

The Russian researchers created two types of vaccines, including a prophylactic against the virus and a vaccine which helps those suffering immunodeficiency.
