Russia’s Foreign Ministry says Turkey’s vow not to let the Syrian town of Azaz fall into Kurdish forces is because it lies on a supply route used by Ankara to support Islamic State. Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said some countries once warned Russia ‘not to touch’ a corridor which was near the Syrian-Turkish border around Azaz. She said the warning was aimed to ensure Turkey’s continued daily shipment of weapons, ammunition, and food to ISIL, al-Nusra, and other terrorist groups via this area.
