Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Saturday that it’s stupid for the U.S. to refuse to host a Russian delegation on Syria.
In his words, Washington just “demonstrate their weakness” due to such a decision.
On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow had suggested sending a delegation headed by Medvedev to Washington on the Syrian crisis. Washington rejected the offer.
In an interview on state television, Medvedev said the refusal has nothing to do with personal relations. Instead, national interests always go first.
He said Washington proposed to cooperate with Moscow against terrorists in Syria, but now refuses to share intelligence… and even hold talks.
The Russian Prime Minister stressed it does not matter to Russia who heads Syria in future, so long as it is not the Islamic State extremist group.
