Russian Su-34s fly with air-to-air missiles in Syria for first time

Russia is taking extra precautions with its fighter jets in Syria following the downing of its jet by Turkey.
For the first time the country has fitted air-to-air missiles on its Su-34 fighter bombers operating in Syria.
A Russian Aerospace Forces spokesman said on Monday the move was for their own self defence. These missiles were capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 60 kilometres.
