Russia’s “Arctic” Mi-8 helicopter makes first public flight

A brand new ‘Arctic’ modification of the Mi-8 helicopter (MI-8AMTSh-VA) was presented and tested at an airfield in Ulan-Ude, Russia, earlier this week.
The military cargo helicopter is produced by the Ulan-Ude aircraft plant and designed to conduct flights in extremely low temperatures. With an additional power unit, the helicopter can easily start up in temperatures down to -60°C and remain in the open air without a hangar.
