Russia’s ruling United Russia party, founded by Putin, set to win parliamentary election

Russia’s ruling party– the United Russia– is set to win the country’s parliamentary election. According to early results announced by the Central Election Commission, the party came first in Sunday’s election, winning at least 53 percent of the vote. Around 60 percent of the ballots have been counted. Russian President Vladimir Putin, who founded the party in 2001, said its victory was “evident.”
