South Korean President Park Geun-hye has called on ASEAN leaders to further solidify ties through a “concrete vision.” Park made the remarks at the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Summit in Vientiane. She said South Korea looks forward to enhancing cooperation in trade and investment with ASEAN. Leaders of the bloc have also held talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who pledged cooperation with ASEAN against terrorism. In their meeting on Wednesday, Park and Abe also agreed to work with the US to cope with what they call as “provocations” from the DPRK.
