S. Korea’s Q1 growth slightly higher at 0.5%

South Korea’s economy grew 0.5 percent in the first quarter of 2016, which is slightly higher than the Bank of Korea’s earlier estimate of 0.4 percent. However, these figures are still lower than 2015’s final quarter growth of 0.7 percent. South Korea is struggling with growing unemployment, mounting consumer debt, and falling exports in the face of slowing global demand.
