SC Rejects Plea of Seeking Death For Nitish Katara’s Killer

The Supreme Court has dismissed the Delhi Government’s plea seeking death penalty for killers of Nitish Katara. The Delhi Government had moved to the Supreme Court to seek death penalty for convicts, Vikas, his cousin Vishal Yadav and accomplice Sukhdev Yadav. The cousins have been sentenced to 30 years in jail by the Delhi High Court for the executive’s murder. Nitish was killed by Vikas, Vishal and Sukhdev on the intervening night of February 16 and 17, 2002, after they abducted him from a marriage party in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. Both Vikas and Vishal objected to Nitish’s alleged relationship with their sister, Bharti Yadav.
