Scholar: Moscow fears ISIS could topple Syria’s Assad regime

Russia’s military intervention in Syria has raised serious concerns in Israel.

Dr. Navon said the Western countries’ failure to defeat the Islamic State group could be the reason behind Russia’s intervention, as Moscow fears the terrorist group could have the ability to topple the Assad regime.

Dr. Navon says for the moment, at least, there seems to be few other strategies on the table for ending the bloody conflict in Syria.
