Scientists discover liquid water can exist on Mars

Scientists say they may have proof that the surface of Mars sees periodic flows of liquid water. Data from a NASA satellite shows features which appear on slopes, to be associated with salt deposits. What implications does this have for life on Mars? What does this mean for scientists who have been looking for extraterrestrial life?
