Six scientists have simulated life on Mars – on a Hawaiian volcano. The scientists have lived in a 93-square-meter solar-powered dome for the past year. They ventured out only for simulated spacewalks, fully attired in mock spacesuits. The experiment is the fourth and longest so far in the Hawaii Space Exploration Analog and Simulation or HI-SEAS, funded by NASA and overseen by the University of Hawaii.
