Serbian politician on South China Sea: Sovereignty disputes beyond stipulations of UNCLOS

A Serbian politician has said sovereignty disputes in the South China Sea are beyond the scope of application of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). Zarko Obradovic, Deputy President of the Socialist Party of Serbia, said the dispute obviously concerns sovereignty and maritime delimitations, and should be solved between the parties concerned. An arbitral tribunal with widely contested jurisdiction will issue a verdict on July 12 on the South China Sea case, which was unilaterally initiated by the Philippines against China.
