Seven held after Maldives boat blast investigation

Police in the Maldives arrested seven people on Saturday during an investigation into an assassination attempt against the country’s president, Abdulla Yameen. Police also found weapons hidden on the sea bed. Authorities have not yet explicitly linked the weapons to the blast on the President’s boat on September 28 in which President Yameen escaped unhurt, but his wife was injured. Vice President Ahmed Adheeb was arrested last week and accused of plotting the assassination.
