The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) advised Singaporeans to defer all non-essential travel to Rakhine state in Myanmar. The state was placed on high alert following violent clashes in northern Rakhine state. The ministry advised those already in Rakhine state or travelling to Myanmar to exercise vigilance and take precautions, including monitoring the news and heeding the local authorities’ instructions. It urged travellers to stay in touch with family and friends. It also encouraged Singaporeans to eRegister with MFA online and to ask for assistance if needed.
