Somnath Bharti Hides In Agra
The Delhi Police today claimed that it had tracked down the whereabouts of AAP leader Somnath Bharti, who has reportedly gone in hiding, sources said. Bharti is wanted in connection with an attempt to murder and domestic violence case field by his wife Lipika Mitra. According to sources, the police, on the basis of technical surveillance, have confirmed the location where the AAP leader and former Delhi Law Minister had been hiding a few hours ago. Bharti was supposed to be near Agra, and the phone being used by him was switched off, police sources said. However, the Police is apparently not arresting him right away because the Supreme Court is due to hear Bharti’s anticipatory plea on Monday. Bharti had yesterday moved the apex court seeking protection from arrest in the case and a direction to restrain Delhi Police from arresting him till his plea challenging the High Court order is decided. The High Court had dismissed his anticipatory bail plea, saying the allegations against him were backed by “documentary proof”. Lipika had filed a complaint of domestic violence with Delhi Commission for Women on June 10 alleging that her husband had been abusing her since their marriage in 2010. She had also given a complaint to the police in this regard.
