South African SKA telescope: Local scientists pioneer technology

The Square Kilometer Array, or SKA telescope has been called one of the world’s most ambitious science projects, and will cover a distance of at least 3,000 kilometers from its central core, making it at least 50 times more sensitive than any other radio telescope. South Africa and Australia are hosting the bulk of the project, while China has committed funding and scientific personnel.
