South Korea says the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s recent proposal for dialogue is “meaningless” without a statement from the DPRK that it would denuclearize. The South Korean Defense Minister, Han Min-koo, was speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. Han accused Pyongyang of trying to weaken the sanctions against it while continuing to build up its weaponry. He said sincere dialogue that would result in reconciliation and cooperation could only take place if the DPRK ended its nuclear ambitions.
