South Korean legislature approves free-trade pact with China

South Korea’s parliament on Monday approved a free trade pact with China after opposition lawmakers secured a $1.4 billion US dollar relief package for farmers. The ratification, which comes five months after the trade pact was signed, paves the way for the deal with South Korea’s largest export market to take effect this year. The deal could make 85% of South Korean exports to China tax-free.
